A Pineapple Under The Sea

Since arriving on our screens back in 1999, SpongeBob SquarePants has become a huge hit and an icon of animated comedy. The show, which was created by Stephen Hillenburg, takes place in the eponymous character’s home, an underwater town called Bikini Bottom. Over multiple decades and more than 250 episodes, we have witnessed the pant-wearing sponge involve himself in tons of hilarious adventures.

Mr. SquarePants may be the main personality in the show, but there are plenty of other fantastic characters joining along for the ride. One of these characters is SpongeBob’s best friend, Patrick Star, a short-wearing starfish that lives under a rock and lacks the IQ of his counterparts. Often times, they are joined by SpongeBob’s pet snail, Gary — who just so happens to meow like a cat.

The trio enjoy having fun together, which only serves to annoy Squidward Tentacles (their neighbour). He lives in between the pair of them, and he regularly breaks down into a meltdown due to their antics.

Both SpongeBob and Squidward work together at the Krusty Krab, a fast-food restaurant owned by Eugene H. Krabs (Mr. Krabs). Here, they produce the world-famous Krabby Patties. Plankton, the owner of a rival restaurant called the Chum Bucket, wants nothing more than to steal the secret recipe, creating various crazy machines to get the job done. Nevertheless, he has never succeeded.

Other characters featured in the show include Sandy Cheeks (a squirrel who lives underwater in her treedome), Mrs Puff (the driving instructor), Larry The Lobster, Karen (Plankton’s computer wife), and the Flying Dutchman — among others.
