A New Horror Classic

Released in 2007, Trick ‘r Treat combines the genres of horror and comedy in the format of an anthology. It was helmed by writer and director Michael Dougherty and produced by Bryan Singer.

Since its release (which was delayed for a period of two years and only given a limited screening at select film festivals), the film has established a large cult fanbase. Due to its success, the filmmakers announced they would be pushing ahead with a sequel.

Bringing together a series of four Halloween stories, Trick ‘r Treat stars Dylan Baker, Rochelle Aytes, Anna Paquin, and Brian Cox. Over the course of these distinct tales, the characters encounter the character of Sam. Whenever a Halloween tradition is forsaken, this childlike figure of a trick-or-treater appears – wearing orange footie pyjamas and his head covered by a burlap sack.

Halloween Anthology

Based in the fictional town of Warren Valley, Ohio, the film tracks four overlapping stories that take place on Halloween night. Told in a non-linear fashion, with multiple characters crossing paths, Sam steps in to ensure that everyone follows the strict rules of this annual celebration – with less-than-savoury consequences.

In a selection of stories including cyanide-laced candy, zombie children, masked vampires, and werewolves, this grizzly affair has comedic undertones and more than its fair share of twists.
