In a dusty, underpopulated California resort town, naive southern waif Pinky Rose (Carrie's Sissy Spacek) idolizes and befriends her fellow nurse, the would-be sophisticate 'thoroughly modern' Millie Lammoreaux (The Shining's Shelley Duvall).
