An American company founded by Claudia and Mike Becker in the late ’90s, Funko Inc. is a commercially successful business that manufactures collectables inspired by the world of pop culture. The brand’s most famous products are Pop! Vinyl figures, which adopt a stylistic design with black-coloured eyes and cube-shaped heads (an appearance that invites comparison to the Japanese chibi aesthetic). However, they also offer a variety of other items, such as homeware, keychains, plushies, and clothing.

Drawing from the many corners of entertainment, the Washington-based company has acquired more than 1,000 licenses throughout its history (comprising films, TV shows, video games, bands, comic books, manga, and celebrities): Harry Potter, Star Wars, The Mandalorian, Marvel, DC Comics, The Office, Iron Maiden, Halo, Pirates Of The Caribbean, Apex Legends, the Royal Family, Naruto, One Piece, Queen, Doctor Who, and Star Trek — amongst others.

Despite their comparatively low recommended retail price, many products manufactured by the company have become sought-after collectables, boasting high prices in the aftermarket. This combined with the supply of officially licensed products based on obscure franchises has ensured the brand’s longevity, its popularity remaining high to this day.
