The celebrated fairy tales of Hansel and Gretel and Rapunzel have enthralled children and adults alike for generations.
Now Encyclopaedia Britannica presents these famous stories side-by-life with other tales from around the world with a similar theme.

In 'Hungry Witches' we met Handel and Gretel and then learn about The Woodcutter's Wealthy Sister a tale from Syria, as well as Pedro and the Monster, a story from the Philippines.

'Trapped in Towers' features Rapunzel, followed by the Maltese story of Fenchelchen and the Israeli tale The Princess in the Tower.
