A Disney Classic

One Hundred and One Dalmatians (1961) is one of Disney’s most beloved animated films. Based on the 1956 novel ‘The Hundred and One Dalmatians’ by Dodie Smith, this animated movie tells the story of a litter of Dalmatian puppies who are kidnapped by the villainous Cruella de Vil, seeking to use their spotted fur to make coats.

Dalmatians Pongo and Perdita have a litter of 15 puppies. But when fashion designer Cruella De Vil takes a fancy to the pups and wants to get hold of them - as well as more little Dalmatian puppies in the city - to make herself a lovely Dalmatian skin coat, Cruella hires some thugs to kidnap the pups and hold them at her mansion. The puppies must escape and make it back to Pongo and Perdita!

The film was such a success with fans that Disney created a live-action version of ‘101 Dalmatians’ in 1996 and also released a sequel, ‘102 Dalmatians’, in 2000. The live-action version starred Glenn Close, Jeff Daniels, Joely Richardson, and more talented actors!
