The Start Of Rebellion

Star Wars Rebels premiered on the Disney Channel in 2014, presented as a television movie: Sparks Of Rebellion. Following this, Rebels continued as a TV show. It lasted for a total of four seasons, concluding in 2018.

Set between Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge Of The Sith and Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope, the series follows a small group of rebels: Jedi survivor of Order 66 Kanan Jarrus (Freddie Prinze Jr.), Twi’lek pilot Hera Syndulla (Vanessa Marshall), Force-sensitive orphan Ezra Bridger (Taylor Gray), Mandalorian Sabine Wren (Tiya Sircar), Lasat Garazeb ‘Zeb’ Orrelios (Steven Blum), and astromech droid Chopper (Dave Filoni).

Travelling the galaxy aboard the Ghost, a modified VCX-100 light freighter, the Spectres (the collective name for the crew) challenge the oppression of the Galactic Empire, which rose to power fourteen years prior to the beginning of the series. Over the course of the show, the Spectres venture to various worlds occupied by the Empire’s Stormtroopers and help to liberate the oppressed people.

In addition to a whole host of new faces, Rebels also features recognisable characters from the Star Wars universe — villains and heroes alike. Some notable figures are Darth Vader, Ahsoka Tano, Darth Maul, and Obi-Wan Kenobi.
