An Unlikely Hero

During the Star Wars prequel trilogy, C-3PO was created by a younger Anakin Skywalker while he was still a slave, programmed for tasks involving etiquette and protocol — making him fluent in over six million forms of communication.

The 3PO-series protocol droid (portrayed by Anthony Daniels) first appeared in the 1977 film Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope, accompanying R2-D2 to the desert planet Tatooine in an attempt to deliver the Death Star plans to Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Along the way, they were abducted by Jawas and sold to Luke Skywalker. Fortunately, this led them directly into the path of Kenobi (who had adopted the name of Ben following Order 66), and they set out to rescue the captured Princess Leia Organa, who was being held aboard the Death Star.

In subsequent films, C-3PO would go on to aid the Rebel Alliance in defeating the Galactic Empire as well as providing continuous support to the Resistance during the rise of the First Order.
