One of the most celebrated and admired TV series of all time, Edgar Reitz's epic Heimat - A Chronicle Of Germany was original broadcast on UK TV in 1984 and remains a landmark in film-making history to this day.

Spanning more than 60 years - from the end of the First World War through to the early 1980s - Reitz's 11-part production follows the fortunes of a family, the Simons, living in a small town in rural Germany.

Winner of the International Critics' Prize in Venice, this 15 and a half hour series was shot over two years, featuring 32 leading performers, 140 speaking roles, almost 4,000 extras, and is a classic in the truest sense.
