Ok, I’m old enough to remember the original. I have very vague images of this story, and it was significant as Victoria says her final goodbyes to the doctor and Jamie. But this newly animated version surpassed my expectations. The original Story was scary, but I actually think this animated version is scarier. The seaweed that takes over the humans is not just a little seaweed sticking out of their collars, but a creature taking over their bodies. The quality of animation is great. The soundtrack was well restored. The story moves well. Characterisations well portrayed. The movements are well executed. And it’s loaded with extras. There is a B&W or colour animated version. All 6 episodes have also been completed with telesnaps (where you can see the original special effects in static fineness). There’s a making of featurette and some film extracts. It’s a great Troughton story.
