Ross Kemp On Pirates
A$33.99

All three episodes of the Sky1 series in which Ross Kemp joins the crew of HMS Northumberland as they patrol the one million square miles of ocean off the coast of Somalia to protect sea traffic from the threat of piracy..
SOMALIA
Ross’ journey begins off the coast of Somalia where pirates wielding AK-47s and grenades threaten world shipping. Here he joins the crew of HMS Northumberland, the first British warship sent to deal with piracy since 1816. He witnesses the taking of a ship by Somali pirates and how powerless the Royal Navy are to stop them.
NIGERIA
Ross’ journey continues in Nigeria. Pirates, under the guise of the political movement MEND (Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta) are siphoning oil, kidnapping foreign oil workers and targeting fishermen, robbing them of their valuables and outboard engines, leaving them to die in open water.
SOUTH EAST ASIA
He journeys on to The Dark Passage, otherwise known as the Malacca Straits, the world’s second busiest shipping lane. Ross goes on operation with the Malaysian authorities who have brought piracy under control in this volatile region. He ventures south to the Singapore Straits and the Indonesian island of Batam where he spends time with one of the ten active groups of pirates in the region.
Ross’ journey into piracy ends where it began. After months of negotiation he’s been granted an exclusive interview with a Somali pirate who admits to being trained in one of 30 schools run by ex-members of Somalia’s military.
