In 1990, Nintendo released the Super Nintendo Entertainment Systems (otherwise known as SNES) in Japan and South Korea. The 16-bit home video game console featured advanced graphics and sound, outperforming many competing consoles of the time.

Such games included Super Mario World (1990), The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past (1991), Donkey Kong Country (1994), EarthBound (1994), Super Metroid (1994), and Yoshi’s Island (1995) - many of which are regarded as some of the greatest video games every made.
