Hitting the scene in 1969, Scooby-Doo is a popular cartoon series. Since its debut, there have also been a variety of films, short stories, and books.

The franchise follows a gang of youngsters — brainiac Velma, Fred the sporty jock, Daphne the fashionista, Shaggy the super-hippie, and the Great Dane Scooby-Doo (a talking dog who is always hungry for Scooby Snacks) — as they seek to uncover the secrets of the supernatural in their iconic Mystery Machine.

In 2002, a live-action film adaptation of the series was released, starring Freddie Prinze Jr as Fred, Sarah Michelle Gellar as Daphne, Matthew Lillard as Shaggy, and Linda Cardellini as Velma. The narrative centres around the group reuniting on Spooky Island after going their separate ways. Here they discover an amusement park that affects young visitors in very strange ways. To solve this mystery, the gang must put aside their grievances.

Following on from the first film, there have been various other sequels and spin-offs: Scooby‑Doo 2: Monsters Unleased (2004), Scooby‑Doo! The Mystery Begins (2009), Scooby‑Doo! Curse Of The Lake Monster (2010), and Daphne & Velma (2018).
