Sharpshooters Since ‘77

The iconic stormtroopers (otherwise known as ‘bucketheads’) first appeared in director George Lucas’ 1977 sci-fi flick Star Wars IV: A New Hope. They became instantly iconic, largely in part to their unique visual aesthetic – designed by legendary concept artist Ralph McQuarrie and moulded by Andrew Ainsworth.

Following in the footsteps of the Republic clone army, the stormtroopers were the key force in the Imperial Military. Indoctrinated as children, these soldiers were completely loyal to the cause of their Emperor, the Sith Lord Darth Sidious.

Equipped in their distinctive white armour and brandishing their E-11 blaster rifles, the stormtroopers patrolled the known galaxy and enforced order and stability.

During the Galactic Civil war, however, the Empire was destroyed and the stormtroopers scattered. Those who remained were known as Remnant Stormtroopers, led for a time by Moff Gideon.

Those who retreated to the unknown regions would eventually evolve into the First Order, recruiting new soldiers into their ranks under the leadership of Supreme Leader Snoke – and later, Kylo Ren.
