National City’s Hero

The Last Daughter Of Krypton — also known by her true name, Kara Zor-El — made her first appearance in Action Comics #252 (1959), a comic book released by DC Comics. Since then, she has appeared in television series, films, and video games.

As the cousin of Kal-El (Clark Kent/Superman) and a member of the Kryptonian race, she possesses a number of powerful abilities: superhuman strength, invulnerability, superhuman stamina, flight, superhuman speed, super vision, and super breath. With these powers, she becomes the hero Supergirl and fights back against threats both terrestrial and alien.

In 1984, a film was released that starred Helen Slater as the eponymous hero. The story follows Kara Zor-El as she journeys to Earth to recover a lost power source for Argo City, the last remnant of the destroyed planet Krypton. Upon arrival, she discovers that she has gained superpowers. However, she must also contend with a mad witch called Selina, who intends to use the power source to gain immense magical abilities.

A Supergirl TV series was released in 2015 by CBS, featuring Melissa Benoist as Kara Danvers. Over the course of several seasons, the character faces a variety of villains in National City and meets other superheroes, such as the Martian Manhunter (David Harewood) and Guardian (Mehcad Brooks).
