Children Of The Atom

The X-Men, one of the most popular superhero teams in the Marvel Universe, were created by Stan Lee (a writer) and Jack Kirby (an artist), their first appearance being The X-Men #1 (1963). During the early years of publication, the comics focused on Marvel Girl (Jean Grey), Cyclops (Scott Summers), Beast (Hank McCoy), Angel (Warren Kenneth Worthington III), and Iceman (Robert Drake). These characters were unified by their shared identity as Mutants, individuals who are born with powers enabled by the X-gene.

Outside of the source material, the team has become a household name, having been realised in several on-screen adaptations, the most popular of which are live-action films. The first trilogy established the primary characters who would lead the franchise — such as Wolverine (Hugh Jackman), Professor X (Patrick Stewart), and Magneto (Ian McKellen) — and dealt with the eponymous heroes’ conflict against the Brotherhood Of Mutants and the prejudices of humanity. Subsequently, the world was expanded through four prequels — First Class (2011), Days Of Future Past (2014), Apocalypse (2016), and Dark Phoenix (2019) — and a handful of spin-offs. Amongst these spin-offs were movies following Wolverine, Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds), and the New Mutants.
