Welcome To Motunui

In 2016, Disney expanded its roster of strong female icons with the addition of Moana, an adventurous teenager and the daughter of Chief Tui.

On the Polynesian island of Motunui, the islanders worship the goddess Te Fiti, who brought life to the ocean. The demigod Maui, shapeshifter and master of sailing, steals Te Fiti’s heart to give Man the power of creation. Te Fiti is destroyed and Maui is attacked by Te Kā, a volcanic demon and alter-ego of Te Fiti who seeks destruction and death.

Moana is chosen by the ocean to find the heart and return it to Te Fiti so as to restore peace and save her people. From this point on, Disney’s 56th full-length animated feature film follows Moana’s journey alongside Maui. The heroes must battle fearsome monsters inspired by Polynesian legend and myth, such as Tamatoa — a giant treasure-hoarding coconut crab.

This animated adventure features an exciting cast, including Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson as Maui, Auliʻi Cravalho as Moana, Nicole Scherzinger as Sina (Moana’s mother), and Jemaine Clement as Tamatoa. (Many of movie's cast members are of Polynesian descent, adding authenticity and diversity to the film.) In addition, Moana features unforgettable songs such as ‘How Far I’ll Go’, ‘You’re Welcome’, ‘We Know the Way’, and ‘Shiny’.
